Mr. Ferrell Yeokum


Mr. Ferrell Yeokum grew up in Colorado but moved to Texas in his senior year of high school and graduated from Monterrey High School in Lubbock, Texas. He entered the Air Force a few days after graduation. Mr. Yeokum then served overseas including Southeast Asia during the Vietnam conflict, spending most of that time in Thailand where he learned to speak Thai.

He was a partner in a business for several years before obtaining a degree from The University of North Texas, majoring in Education. He was a teacher at Northwest Middle School in Justin, Texas teaching science, Spanish and history. Later, he returned to The University of North Texas and obtained his master’s degree in Administration. During that time, Mr. Yeokum was named the assistant principal and boys’ dean of Northwest Middle School. He has also served as principal at Irma Marsh Middle school in Ft Worth, Hall JHS in Weatherford and as assistant superintendent in Castleberry ISD. Then, he served as principal at Joy James Elementary and Meadowcreek Elementary, both in Ft. Worth.

Later, Mr. Yeokum was hired by Responsive Education Solutions and was appointed as Director at Vista Academy of The Woodlands, a charter school, outside of Houston before becoming Headmaster at Founders Classical Academy of Mesquite in 2016.

Mr. Yeokum is married. He and his wife have 4 children, all grown and 3 grandchildren with another grandchild on the way. He and his wife love to travel and spend many vacations in Colorado where they hike and enjoy the scenery.

Mr. Yeokum’s passion is helping students and teachers to establish a culture of caring and successful learning.
