Dr. Austin Freeman grew up on a cattle ranch in Waco but has lived in Memphis, Chicago, and Scotland. He received a BA in religious studies and philosophy from Rhodes College, an MTh in historical theology from the University of Edinburgh, and a PhD in systematic theology from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He is a Tolkien scholar with a forthcoming book on Tolkien's theology and also enjoys discussing superheroes, especially those of DC Comics. Dr. Freeman has given presentations and lectures on various topics throughout the United States and in Japan. He is married to Mandi and has a flat-coated retriever named Henry.
