Dr. Austin Freeman
Humanities Teacher: Ancient Literature (9) and Medieval-Romantic Literature (10)
Dr. Austin Freeman grew up on a cattle ranch in Waco but has lived in Memphis, Chicago, and Scotland. He received a BA in religious studies and philosophy from Rhodes College, an MTh in historical theology from the University of Edinburgh, and a PhD in systematic theology from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He is a Tolkien scholar with a forthcoming book on Tolkien's theology and also enjoys discussing superheroes, especially those of DC Comics. He is married to Mandi and has a flat-coated retriever named Henry. This is his first year teaching 9th and 10th grade literature and he is excited to share the treasures of the True, Good, and Beautiful as mined from classical literature.
